Community Response – Yes! In My Backyard.

March 2008

In our ongoing efforts to end homelessness, the greatest advantage comes with strategic coordinated efforts involving all sectors of a community.

In Hollywood, Project Y!MBY, (Yes! In My Backyard) has mobilized stakeholders to create "a coalition of the willing", determined to confront critical issues and work together to end homelessness in the Hollywood community.

Hollywood Snapshot! Over 70 volunteers participated in a point-in-time snapshot of unsheltered homeless persons in the Hollywood region. In partnership with The Hollywood Entertainment District, LAHSA, Council District 13 and 4, The Hollywood Homeless Youth Partnership, The County of Los Angeles, as well as many other Hollywood stakeholders, Project Y!MBY brought together over 70 volunteers in a matter of two weeks.  A testament to the dedication and commitment of the Hollywood community towards addressing the issue of homelessness.

Data collected during the event (to be released mid April) will provide a snapshot of how many homeless individuals are sleeping on the streets in the Hollywood region.
