INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

PATHFinders Job Center: Assist homeless individuals in gaining job skills and finding employment

RECEPTIONIST: Provide administrative assistance, including signing clients in and out, checking and posting messages from the voicemail system, updating job boards and performing other clerical duties as necessary. Familiarity with computers and typing experience helpful, friendly demeanor and good people skills a must. Day/Time: Monday through Fridays, from 8:00 to 4:00pm (2-4 hour regular shifts ok.)

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR: Facilitate employment preparedness workshops to homeless job-seekers on “Successful Interviewing Techniques” and “Internet Skills.” Volunteers must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the workshop area, and display patience and flexibility in working with people from diverse backgrounds and educational levels. Day/Time: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

* A monthly commitment is preferred

 

PATHMall: Support homeless individuals as they seek assistance at the PATH Regional Homeless Center

RECEPTIONIST: Assist in answering and forwarding phone calls, providing general information and customer service, sorting mail, and providing toiletry/ hygiene supplies to homeless clients. Day/Time: Mondays through Fridays, from 7:30 to 4:00pm (half day shifts available: 7:30 to Noon, and Noon to 4:00pm.)

GREETER (Resource Center): Assist in welcoming clients to PATH and connecting them to on-site services and resources. Also involves conducting data entry and providing clients with information about PATH services. Day/Time: Mondays through Fridays, from 7:30 to 11:30am.

INTAKE WORKER ( Access Center): Conduct interviews with new and returning clients and input information into computer database. Volunteers for this position must maintain strict confidentiality and have the ability to relate well with clients with diverse, and often traumatic, backgrounds. Hours: Day/Time: Mondays through Fridays, from 7:30 to 11:30am.

* A monthly commitment is preferred

 

PATHWays Transitional Housing: Facilitate a life skills workshop for residents (money management, exercise/aerobics, recreational)

Choose one of your skills or areas of expertise, and develop a method of sharing that knowledge with PATH residents. For example, a volunteer could teach guitar lessons, or facilitate a personal budgeting class with families. Evening and weekend hours available.

* A 3-month commitment is preferred

 

Rhonda Fleming Family Center: Become a reading-buddy or tutor for a homeless child

Have the opportunity to pair up with a homeless child and his/her family, to support the child’s reading skills and school work.

* Volunteers must be able to make a weekly commitment for a minimum of 3 months
